What is the connection between rooster- the bird and Kazimierz? Why do we say that Kazimierz is the Polish Montmartre? Visit this amazing town with us and get answers to these questions. This beautiful city delights in every season. Rich in monuments, located alongside the twisted banks of the Vistula river and the hill overgrown by trees offers variety of activities. While downtown we can spend time meandering between art galleries, old tenement houses and nice restaurants and coffee shops.
Kazimierz is small enough to tour it slowly on foot. We’re going to start our trip at the Sarzyński local bakery and bake the traditional roosters according to a traditional recipe. Then we’ll stroll on down to the castle ruins and the tower on the hill. We shall not pass by the majestic basilica built of the local limestone. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, depending on the weather conditions, we’re going to take a Vistula river cruise or drive through the picturesque canyon.

City tour and baking traditional rooster
The City history dates back to the 11th century when the village of Wietrzna Góra (Windy Hill) was situated. Hill and neighboring area was granted to the nuns of the Norbertine Order by King Kazimierz. Therefore, In honor and commemoration of the generous donor, the nuns renamed the city “Kazimierz” after the donors name. Today, city of Kazimierz is recognized as the Polish capital of art. It is filled with art galleries and artists who offer their art or search for inspiration. This unique city is worth visiting at any time of the year. In the Autumn, the city is fully colored by falling leaves. In the winter we can appreciate the beauty of the Vistula river. The Spring and the Summer are the best times for art lovers. In Kazimierz we can enjoy numerous exhibits and outdoor events. To remember the trip to Kazimierz every visitor should buy a one of the legendary and tasty bread-roosters. Medieval castle and tower hill
Castle Complex in Kazimierz Dolny is a wonderful example of medieval architecture. Beautiful, limestone walls and towers above it make a great impression on visitors. The picturesque location of the castle and the interesting history of its fortune, will be interesting to most everyone. Climbing steep stairs to get to the top will be rewarded by the incredible view once you get there. From the tower hill we can see the entire panorama of Kazimierz and the surrounding areas.
St. John the baptist church
Together with the guide we will visit this wonderful example of Renaissance construction. The church and its interior have been rebuilt many times, and now we can watch the final effect in all its glory. The magnificent, 17th-century organ that decorates the church is probably the oldest surviving instrument of its kind in Poland.
